The High Commission of Nigeria in Canada presents its compliments to all Nigerians resident in Canada, particularly our vibrant youths. We further wish to acknowledge and appreciate their peaceful conduct while staging protests on 9th October 2020 in Toronto and on 12th and 16th October 2020 in Ottawa, over alleged brutality against Nigerian citizens, by the now moribund Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Dear Compatriots, kindly be informed and assured that your labour of love and patriotic zeal will never be in vain as peaceful protest and constructive criticism are all hallmarks of democracy. The High Commission having heard your concerns and received a Protest Note, wishes to once again, reassure all, that appropriate steps have been taken to speedily convey same to the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is also pertinent to ensure all, that government is presently focused on the issues raised and is addressing them with the seriousness they require. The recent decisions reached by the National Economic Council (NEC) in Nigeria are a positive pointer to this direction. Therefore, while appealing to all Nigerians resident in Canada for calm and patience, the High Commission wishes to assure that your collective call for good and improved governance at all levels has been heard.
Once again, accept our appreciation for your patriotism and efforts. God bless Nigerians and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
