The Passport Intervention team from the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa has completed a 4-day biometric exercise for four hundred and forty (440) Nigerians in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Joy Osiagwu captured the event for the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa.
EmmanuelSays
Hello Susan, will this exercise continue in Edmonton? I stay in Calgary and desperately need to renew my passport.
Abu SusanSays
We are done with Edmonton. The Immigration officers left for Ottawa two days ago. Contact the Nigerian Canadian Association in Calgary for details of their Intervention exercise.
OgechiSays
Hello Susan, please when are we expecting our renewed passports back to Edmonton ?
Abu SusanSays
We have just one High Commission in Canada, and it is in Ottawa.
NizarySays
If the embassy isn’t going to be open for a while due to restrictions. Is it possible for the embassy to post what province the next intervention would be at. My situation doesn’t apply to IRCC’s. It’ll be easier for people with expired passport to follow up on that.
Abu SusanSays
I get your point, Nizary, Unfortunately, the Mission does not control the next province in line. The Interventions are done in collaboration with the Nigerian Canadian Associations in the provinces because they can get a critical mass of Nigerians in the provinces through their associations to apply for the renewal and get back to us when they work out the logistics, We only go there for the biometric exercise and return to work on the Passports. Please, get in touch with the Association in Regina to get details of their dates. I think they are next in line.
Dotsy EliSays
Hi Abu Susan, My Family and I were involved in the Edmonton intervention exercise in 2017 and so our passports will be expiring in April 2022. How can I go about extending the expiry date for my son’s passport as he will be resuming school in Accra in January 2022?
Abu SusanSays
You can not extend. You need to renew his passport.
JP OrtsergaSays
Will there be anything for Saskatchewan and when?
Abu SusanSays
Yes, JP. Contact the Nigerian Canadian Association in Saskatchewan or the Association in Regina.
HauwaSays
Hello , good morning please when will we be able to apply for passport renewal
Abu SusanSays
You can apply now, but you cannot come to the Mission for your biometric capture due to the stay at home order in Ontario.
HauwaSays
Hello , good morning please when will we be able to apply for passport renewal , I booked an appointment but i never got a reply to my email
Abu SusanSays
Yes, Hauwa, That is because the backlog is overwhelming at the moment. We are working on a better strategy to accommodate everyone. We will get back to you soon.
Tayo OlugbengaSays
Hello please when are we going to have this passport intervention in Newfoundland. Many of us are stuck here since last year. Please consider us in Atlantic Region too (Newfoundland). Thank you
Abu SusanSays
I understand your plight Tayo. We are not happy about it too. Contact the Nigerian Canadian Association in Newfoundland. They are on our list for Intervention.
BilqisSays
Hello Susan, Could you advise on when the exercise will arrive in Toronto?
Abu SusanSays
The Intervention exercise is for Provinces that are far away from Ontario. If you are in Ontario, you have to wait until we reopen to the public.
Bilqis Omoshalewa WilliamsSays
Thanks Susan.
Abu SusanSays
My pleasure
Dr. Azeez SalamiSays
Hello, I am scheduled for an in person interview on May 28th. With the provincial lockdown out there, this is obviously not going to be possible. Will the commission automatically reschedule my appointment or how do I go about the reschedule? I was not aware of the intervention exercise recently in Edmonton, so I missed that. If and when you come to Calgary or any of AB neighbouring provinces like Sk, can I come over for my data capturing there instead? I would also suggest that the commission sends notification of cancellation to scheduled individuals that are affected by the lockdown to avoid the disappointment of traveling down to Ottawa to learn about the bad news. Thank you, Azeez
Abu SusanSays
Hello Dr Zeez, Notifications were sent out about cancellations. If you didn't get it, kindly check your spam mail. Some applicants found it there. As for the interventions, we have no control over the dates. The exercise is conducted by the High Commission, in collaboration with the Nigerian Canadian Associations in the Provinces. The Mission only takes care of the biometric exercise. Kindly get in touch with the Association in Regina or Calgary to find out about their dates. the bip
Azeez SalamiSays
Thank you Susan for your response. Although I did not get the cancellation email (non in my junk box as well), I am pleased to know that some applicants were notified. I will be in touch with the NCA as advised. Stay safe out there. Azeez
Abu SusanSays
Thank you, Azeez, Also, get in touch with the Association in Saskatchewan. I think they are next in line for the Intervention exercise.

SamuelSays 4 weeks ago Hi Abu, I paid for my passport renewal and three new passport for my children since last year, May 2020. I also emailed and phone called the Embassy many times last year for an appointment and no respond or answering phone calls, I just come across this intervention for Vancouver which is over now and we all live in Vancouver. When do you thing these will happen again?. Will my children and I still get the passports as we already paid for almost a year now or will it be a scam by the Nigerian Government not to refund our money or issue passports and renewal?. Thanks for understanding and my frustration with the Nigerian Embassy. REPLY Abu SusanSays 4 weeks ago Hi Samuel, So sorry to hear this story. Did you get an appointment? If yes, I hope you have evidence of payment? One of our colleagues will send you an email for details to follow up. We won't be coming back to Vancouver soon. However, we can let you know when we plan to come to Regina; perhaps you can meet our team there. Once again, accept our sincere apologies. REPLY SamuelSays 4 weeks ago Hi Abu, Apology accepted and thanks you for understanding, I did not get an appointment and I do have payment evidence. Looking forward for your colleagues email. REPLY SamuelSays 5 days ago Hi Abu, I am still waiting for your colleagues email for details to follow up as you promised they will contact me. REPLY Abu SusanSays 4 days ago What was your issue again? Too many things to deal with. Kindly remind me. REPLY

Abu SusanSays
Hello Samuel, If you have your documents, you do not have a problem. Get in touch with the Nigerian Canadian Association in Regina to find out how to join them for the Passport Intervention exercise with your children or wait and come to Ottawa when we reopen to the public.
SamuelSays
Hello Abu, I will like to wait for next time when your team are in Vancouver if it's okey with you?
SallySays
I missed your visit in Edmonton. When do you expect to be on Western Canada again (either BC, Alberta or Saskatchewan)? Thanks.
Abu SusanSays
Sally, Get in touch with the Nigerian Canadian Association in Saskatchewan ASAP!
DominicSays
Hello Susan, thank you for always replying to questions. I participated in the Passport Intervention program in Edmonton. Please when are we expecting our renewed passports back to Edmonton ?
Abu SusanSays
Thank you, Dominic. The first batch went out yesterday. The second batch will follow shortly.
DominicSays
Thank you. As always your replies are fast and a pleasure to read. Thank you.
Monica UwalakaSays
Hello Susan, are these batches only for the interventions or for all Edmonton applications. I had my appointment for my passport renewal in March. Will I get my new passport too?
TaiwoSays
Hello Susan, I really commend you for your prompt responses to questions. That's what we don't have here in the US. We need many Susans like you here in the US. Please how can I apply to the Nigerian embassy in Canada to renew my Passport? A friend advised me to try Canada. Because I have tried some Nigerian embassies here in the US. I paid the fees. My appointment for an interview was canceled and since then (March 2020), no further response or update. It's really affecting a lot of things. Thank you.
Abu SusanSays
Taiwo, I feel your pain. You should be able to renew your passport here since you are a Nigerian. But we have a backlog of applicants at the moment. We want to attend to them first.
Habiba SaadSays
Hello Susan, do you have an idea of when the Passport intervention would take place in Regina or Saskatchewan? I need to renew my children's [assport and mine ASAP. Thank you.
Abu SusanSays
Unfortunately no.
Habiba SaadSays
Hello Susan, I have contacted the Nigerian Association in Regina by mail. I just did that now. Please if you know the date that they are doing theirs let me know. I would go there. All I need to do is pay the non-membership fee as they have stated on their site. Regards
Abu SusanSays
Habiba, they are yet to give us a date. That was why I said you should get in touch with them. We do not control the dates and venues.
Habiba SaadSays
Thank you, Susan. I have contacted Nigerian Association in Regina. However, I asked a member of the executive of the Nigerian association in Calgary and I was told that they were waiting for the high Commission to give a date that you guys would be able to come before they can tell us anything. Grateful
Habiba SaadSays
The person said that you people will be coming in June and that all they were waiting for is for you to give a date. Sorry to bother you, I just need to get the status.
Habiba SaadSays
Morning Susan, Please, I need some clarifications. My passport will expire in January 2022. I know that the requirement for renewal is for six months or less. Why I want to renew is because my study permit approval ends in December 2021 and I need to renew my passport before I can extend my study permit. I hope that it's my application for renewal is OK at this time?
ChichiSays
Hi Susan, I missed the intervention in Calgary last weekend and would like to know where the next intervention is scheduled for if possible.
Abu SusanSays
Hello Chichi, Sorry about that. We are yet to decide on the next one at the moment. We want to clear the backlog on our desk now that Ontario has reopened to the public. Thanks.
OlufisayoSays
Please any idea of the next province/city scheduled for intervention?
Abu SusanSays
None at the moment.
SamuelSays
Please. when do you plan to come to Edmonton in 2022? thanks.
Abu SusanSays
Not anytime soon.
