The Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, will not be open to the public on June 3, as some applicants scheduled for the first week of June envisage. The Province of Ontario has not officially announced the commencement date for stage one of re-opening.
Please, do not proceed to Ottawa without an email or notice of the resumption date on the High Commission’s website and social media platforms.
The High Commission is sensitive to your plight and would explore all avenues to clear the backlog of applications as soon as we re-open to the public.
Thank you for your patience.
EmekaSays
As the embassy is not going to open on 3rd June what about June 1st because my appointment is the 1st June what should I do because am set to come by that date
Abu SusanSays
Emeka, If we won't be open on June 3, how can we open on June 1? Please, kindly read the post again. We are in Ontario and must obey the laws of the Province.
John DoeSays
Everyday we complain about Nigeria and everything in it. I saw Emeka's comment and was expecting the typical Nigerians reply (from you Abu Susan) and you didn't disappoint. Your reply to most comments are typical of a frustrated Nigerian, and I ask myself, how on earth did you get and have managed to keep this job. Cocky, mean, and careless replies. You'd argue you're well within you right and I'd agree with you, it's just another Nigeria with a typical Nigerian behavior.
Abu SusanSays
Thank you.
MosesSays
You don’t have to insult her just because you are a Nigerian. What is the sense in Emeka’s question? How else would she respond to his mail? I guess our new environment ought to have refined us.
Sir ChrisSays
Regarding your response to EMEKA: Abu Susan, You are being unprofessional. This is not Nigeria office with impunity. Mind your stupid and myopic response. Be polite and stop being arrogant or the ambassador will fire you. If you do not change your ways, you will be reported to the appropriate Canadian authority. This is Canada; not Nigeria. You are not SUPERIOR to any other Nigerian. If you think you have one godfather; that does not work here in Canada. Hon. Ambassador, Call her to order. Please. Thank you!
Abu SusanSays
Thank you.
JoshSays
Hello Susan, Trust you are very well. Can you please highlight the commission's plan to handle appointment backlogs once the commission re-opens for business. For clients that had appointments scheduled and confirmed before the commission had to close - Is there a systematic plan in place to clear the back-log. Kindly advise a clear plan for some of us in this category. Many Thanks.
Abu SusanSays
Josh, Kindly try to read our news updates on the website. There is a news item about your enquiries there; let me copy and paste it below for you. Also, look out for another news update in a few hours. NOTICE OF RESUMPTION Please be informed that the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, would reopen to the public on June 23, 2021, following the commencement of Ontario’s stage 1 of the three-step plan to safely and gradually lift public health measures based on ongoing province-wide vaccination progress. However, the Mission would attend to applicants according to a systematic plan in line with COVID-19 Protocols. The first set of applicants would be – 1. Students and workers whose study and work permits have expired. 2. Applicants who cannot renew their Permanent residence cards due to lack of a valid Nigerian passport. 3. Applicants whose permits would expire within the next three months. Applicants in these categories would receive notice of dates and time to come to the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa. Nigerians with appointments scheduled and confirmed before the lockdown from March to April would be next in line. The immigration team would work throughout the week, including weekends, to clear up the backlog. We hope to continue with those scheduled for May and June to get back to our regular calendar. Anyone who shows up at the Nigeria High Commission without an appointment would not be allowed into the building. We will do all we can to minimize the adverse impact of the Covid -19 pandemic on the well-being of our citizens. Regards. The Nigeria High Commission Ottawa.
JulianSays
The services the Nigeria embassy provides to its citizens are essential services. I don’t believe it should be completely closed during lockdown. Life happens and emergencies happen at any time. The role Service Ontario plays is not more important than that of an Embassy of a whole countries, yet Service Ontario has been open all through the lockdown. Please make a case for us and start working on reduced hours to clear backlog . We are loosing a lot sir, please look into this issue and create a program to start sending invitations for people with expired passport. Thank you
Abu SusanSays
Thank you, Julian, We have been talking to the government about the same issue. We were allowed to take in a few applicants a day during the first lockdown. However, the instruction from the government in March was to avoid any form of gathering due to the virulent nature of the new variant. We are not sleeping as some people think. That's why the intervention exercise will reduce the number of applicants when we reopen to the public.
StevekinsSays
Thank you Susan for your prompt response to peoples comment, is good to know The High Commission is working behind the scene. I have a few question though: When the embassy reopens, will it affect those who booked an appointment and their date hasn't elapsed? for example I booked an appointment since January, to come in for renewal last week of June. If Ontario reopens before then, will it affect my appointment date? Also, please throw more light on this caution fee for lost passport, will the money be refunded and is it important to pay if your passport is expired, but it got missing?
Abu SusanSays
Hello Stevekins, If you are scheduled for the last week of June, you have no problem. Your date is valid, all things being equal. As for the caution fee for lost passport, I will get back to you.
StevekinsSays
Thank you for your prompt reply Susan...You are doing well!
Sonia Ehi-EromoseleSays
Hi Susan, My appointment is thursday, June 17; Is that date still valid, can I come to the embassy, or I have to reschedule?
Abu SusanSays
Sonia, No, it is not valid. You will get a message from us about the new date. Thanks
Naomi.ASays
Wow! I’m still wrapping my head around why the only passport renewal office for Nigerians is closed in the first place. Service Ontario and Canada are working, Those are document-processing offices just like the high commission. I’m sure the government could have deemed your service essential. However, now you say you’re not opening when the lockdown is lifted June 2 and you mention those scheduled in June. Won’t it be more be sensible or rather appropriate to use the first month (after you reopen) to handle all appointments that were lost due to the lockdown. I also don’t why people can still schedule appointments despite the lockdown. Its going confusing and people who actually lost appointments may not get the priority they deserve when you finally be open. You say you care about our plight, but you don’t respond to our emails, you post vague updates here that obviously don’t give us directives on next steps or how things will be when you do reopen. Please, I understand these are unprecedented times but people deserve real answers and real guidelines. This is a service we pay for after all. In some cases some have already paid.
Abu SusanSays
Naomi, I understand your frustrations. But I am sure you did not go through the previous updates and videos from the High Commission's desk posted here. If you did, you would have seen that some of the issues you raised were addressed. Please, watch the choice of words you use when responding to updates here. We are all adults.
Dan RavioliSays
Abu Susan!!! You should be fired also for your choice of words. My wife and I are just here laughing at your replies. We work in the customer service industry but your customer service skills should be questioned. You should take a predictive index test to know what your true skills are. It's definitely "NOT" customer support.
Abu SusanSays
Thank you.
NengiSays
Hi, can I pay for my passport renewal online with a visa debit card? Thanks
Abu SusanSays
Hi Nengi, You can use a visa debit card only if it is from TD Bank.
SofiaSays
I have my appointment booked for June 10, 2021 and my flight to Ottawa is for June 4. Should I assume the possibility that the Embassy will not be open to the public by June 10.
Abu SusanSays
Sofia, I hope you read the post. That is what we are saying. The Mission is not open to the public. Ontario is not ready for phase one of reopening. The tentative date is June 14. Even at that, please, please do not come to the Mission until you hear from us.
MariaSays
Hello Abu, Are you planning another intervention anytime soon in another province. I reached out to New Brunswick Nigerian Association to know if you would be coming here, they said the option was explored nothing concrete has been firmed up. As you know that most employees will require to give ample notice to their supervisors before embarking on any trip. My son really needs this passport renewal sorted as soon as possible. We have been extended twice by immigration, and the mental stress this is causing me is beyond normal! Made payments, got an initial appointment date for April 14th before the Ontario Lockdown. Sent several emails but no response, hence the need to write this here. I wont mind flying down to whichever province you're planning the next intervention to get this done before the expiration of the extension given by CIC in July. I really need something concrete to work with and present to my supervisor before booking another trip. Please help!! Thanks in advance for your help on this.
ChukwuebukaSays
We really need the team in the Atlantic region. Anywhere at all, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI or New Foundland. My extension from the IRCC expires at the end of the month also. The uncertainty is stressing everyone out
Abu SusanSays
Yes, the region is on our radar. We are waiting to hear from the Nigerian Canadian Associations in the region.
KaySays
Hi Maria, I understand an intervention is currently being plan for Calgary this June. Please reach out to the Nigerian Canadian Association, Calgary for more information.
Abu SusanSays
Thanks, Kay.
MariaSays
Thanks Kay, the cost of flying to Calgary will be times three of going to Ottawa. I really hope and pray one of the Atlantic Canada provinces is given a green light soon. This has been a nightmare!
Abu SusanSays
Soon and very soon Maria.
Timeyin David OwojaiyeSays
Hello there, I learnt there is a team holding an intervention in Saskatoon. Please could you tell me how long they will be there and provide a contact phone number? I urgently need to renew my passport for work related travel. Thank you, Owojaiye Timeyin
Abu SusanSays
The team left Saskatoon this morning. We encourage Nigerians to associate with the Nigerian Canadian Associations in their region or province. Those on their mailing list are aware of the time and dates. They organise the intervention exercise (Dates and venues). The team only goes there to capture applicants. Please, get in touch with the Association in Regina; they may be next in line for the intervention exercise.
Abu SusanSays
Sorry, Timeyin, The team left Saskatoon this morning. Kindly contact the Nigerian Canadian Association in Regina for their dates; they may be next in line for the exercise.
SefiaSays
Good Afternoon Abu, Based on the Ontario government stating the lockdown will probably extend to June 14, 2021. Is it okay for me to assume their is a high probability the Embassy will not have re-opened by June 10, 2021. Please I need to know so I can cancel my flight.
Abu SusanSays
Hi Sefia, The Mission may not open before the June 14 date. We will post our resumption date here. That is the essence of the post.
NewSays
Hi Abu, how do I do a name change and a renewal as well? I need to renew my passport, but I need the new passport to have my married surname.
Abu SusanSays
Check the website for the requirements for a name change.
Abu SusanSays
Apply for a name change, and if the new name is your husband's surname, let the application for the renewal reflect your new name.
Laura EgharevbaSays
Hello, My appointment day is for June 15. Given that the lockdown will probably extend to June 14, is there a possibility that my June 15 appointment day would still be valid? If no, after the lockdown would all the people with cancelled appointment be given priority with regards to re-booking appointment dates? Thank you
Abu SusanSays
No, Laura, It is no longer valid. We would send you an email about what would happen when we reopen to the public.
NengiSays
Hi Abu, how do I do a passport renewal and name change? How do I go about the payment? Thank you!
EbenezerSays
Hi, I have an appointment scheduled for late June. However, I couldn’t trace the confirmation email sent after booking an appointment. I’m not quite sure when I have the appointment. Is there a way for me to confirm my appointment date with you guys? Thank you.
Abu SusanSays
Where are the copies you printed out? That should do.
SamuelSays
What if we don't have a printed copy, any other way to get our appointment date?
Abu SusanSays
I don't understand your message? You should be able to get your initial appointment date on your own?
Ofure Victoria OmokhodionSays
Please Please Please explore the possibility of mailing in applications if you plan to stay closed for now. All our travel, business and visa application plans are on hold. If other embassies are doing online applications and waiving interviews Nigeria should follow suit. its high time we did!
Abu SusanSays
Ofure, We hope Nigeria can change that narrative soon. It is beyond the High Commission for now. However, Visa applications are not on hold because it does not entail your physical appearance at the High Commission.
Ofure Victoria OmokhodionSays
I meant I cannot apply for any other Country's visa because I do not have a valid Nigerian passport. I do not need a Nigerian visa. My plans to apply for a US visa are being held back by the closure of the Nigerian High Commission
Abu SusanSays
We hope to reopen the Mission to the public as soon as Ontario commences stage 1 of the roadmap to reopen the province. Kindly accept our apologies.
AbiodunSays
Ontario has commenced Stage 1 of the road map to reopen. Non-essential businesses have reopened, when will the high commission reopen? or are you waiting for stage 2 now?
Abu SusanSays
No, Abiodun, We are not waiting for stage 2. We would post the date shortly.
Chuks DeeSays
Hello I want to find out if I can send my police clearance certificate for validation. Will it be process in the 10 business days as posted on here or will it be processed only after the high commission has re- opened Thank you in advance for the prompt response
Abu SusanSays
The processing would start as soon as it gets to the Mission if you sent all the relevant documents.
Samuel AnyanwuSays
Hello.. please, i have been trying to pay for my passport renewal online but it isn't going through. I used TD debit visa card
Abu SusanSays
I really can't tell what the problem is, Samuel, since you did not give more details of the challenge.
Abu SusanSays
Hi Samuel, Did the payment go through eventually? Kindly contact your bank if not. If you are still having challenges, kindly get back to me. It may be a technical issue.
Laura EgharevbaSays
Hello Abu, My appointment date is for June 15. Would I still be affected by this, or would my initial appointment stand? In the case my appointment day becomes cancelled, do we have priority in booking dates or how would it work? Many thanks
Abu SusanSays
June will not work anymore, Laura, We will get back to you on the next line of action.
Chuks DeeSays
Asked a question earlier Seemed like my question disappeared I want to find out if I can send my police certificate for validation will it be processed in the 10 business days as posted on here Or will it only be processed after the high commission has re open Thank you for the prompt response
Abu SusanSays
This does not require physical presence. So yes, it will be processed if you send in all the necessary details.
JummaiSays
Hello, please are there any plans of coming to Montreal for a passport renewal intervention? I have had two appointments cancelled March 2020 and April 2021, its really sad and beyond stressing! and my last appointment, i received no communication, just to get to the commission and it was closed! Also, how long does the passport renewal take? Thank you
Abu SusanSays
Sorry about all the inconveniences, Jummai, We are thinking of organising something similar for you. We are still in the planning process. Details will come later.
FiyinSays
Hello, I would like to ask a question concerning the administrative fees. I will be attending one of the interventions which requires applicants to pay a $200 administrative fee. As my purpose will be to renew my passport, will I still be required to pay the $50 renewal administrative fee stated under the passport application section of this website or is it added to the administrative fee that will be paid at the intervention?
Abu SusanSays
Our administrative fee is $50 as stated on the website, and it is mandatory, apart from the amount you pay to immigration for your passport renewal as stated on the website. It is not part of any other amount, please. Kindly ask the Association for details of the $200.
FiyinSays
Hello Abu, I would like to ask a question concerning the administrative fee. I will be attending an upcoming intervention at Calgary which requires the applicants to pay a $200 administrative fee. Since I will be going for a passport renewal, will I be required to pay the $50 renewal administrative fee stated under the passport application section of this website or the administrative fee to be paid at the intervention will include it?
Abu SusanSays
Hello Fiyin, NHC ADMINISRATIVE FEE! The Nigeria High Commission wishes to inform all Nigerians in Canada that the only administrative fee for E-Passport renewal is $50 (CAD). The mode of payment shall be by money order, payable to the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa ONLY. Passport application and payment are made through the Nigeria Immigration service online via Innovate 1pay. The other Administration fee is the Expedited Issuance (Same day) service fee of $200, which is not mandatory. Any additional cost outside of the mentioned is not from the Nigeria High Commission. Thank you.
Kehinde OlabimtanSays
The situation brought upon the high commission by the lockdown boils down to one thing. Nigeria must join the rank of the civilized world where national documentations and service deliveries are done remotely. It is archaic in the 21st century to be going to que in an office to renew 2nd, 3rd....5th passport. For heaven's sake, what happened to the data already in your system? Even Canada where some of us are only temporary residents does not ask us for biometrics until 10 years after the first submission. Less endowed African countries too have all moved on! Yet we have to renew our stay every now and then all because you locked us down to 5 year passport plan when the rest of the world have since gone 10 years. Even now that you promise 10 year passport, it is still not available. This self-inflicted sufferings cannot earn us respect among the nations. Is it hatred for ourselves or how does one explain this strange behavior?
Abu SusanSays
We hear you, Kehinde, Could you take a look at our latest news item? The High Commissioner H.E. Adeyinka Asekun had a virtual meeting with the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Minister of Interior and the Comptroller-General of Immigration and senior officers in the Presidency today. This issue was high on the High Commissioner's scale of preference. Change is coming! Thanks for your patience.
JummaiSays
Thank you Abu Susan. I commend the fact that everyone's questions are being answered here! Is there a dedicated line we can call to make enquires? The regular consulate phone line ALWAYS goes to voicemail and emails are never answered, how would we know when an intervention is being done in Montreal?
DavidSays
If I misplaced my passport after I already applied and paid for a renewal , do I need to fill out another application for the misplaced one??
Abu SusanSays
You have to send in a police report.
MatSays
Hi Abu, Please I have been trying to pay for my passport renewal online but the payment it isn't going through. The application is still in my cart . I used my personal visa card (cibc) and I have followed all the advice given by the innovate service team (including clear cache/pop blocker, use firefox/crome) but all to no avail. I also called my bank and everything was ok. Please, what do I do, I am really frustrated and I need to complete the registration so I can take the advantage of the upcoming intervention. I also need the passport very urgently. Thank you.
Abu SusanSays
Hello Mat, I will forward your message to the technical unit and get back to you—apologies for the inconvenience.
MatSays
Thanks Abu
Abu SusanSays
Sorry about that, Mat. We have contacted Innovate to take a look at it to solve the problem. Hopefully, you can pay later today.
Abu SusanSays
Hello Matt, I am checking to see if you succeeded with online payment. We sent your message to the technical crew.
Oluchi OkoroSays
Please any info about the intervention in Montreal?
Abu SusanSays
We are planning towards it.
NonsoSays
Hello Abu, In the best case scenario, and based on past interventions, how long does it take from end of intervention to when people receive their new passports. Thank you.
Abu SusanSays
Nonso, It takes six weeks. but we have delivered to some locations in 4 weeks. In some cases, it depends on the number of applicants. If we have a high volume (500 and above) It would take up to 6 weeks.
SophieSays
Hello, just wondering if all all June appointments have been scrapped canceled? My rescheduled appointment is June 17th so not sure what’s going on.please advice
ADESays
Hello Abu Susan, i'm one of the students that applied for a new passport to extend my study permit since last year. My appointment at the high commission was supposed to be on April 13th which i had communicated to IRCC and was given a deadline to submit (April 26), after the lockdown was initiated, i informed IRCC of the situation and was given an extension till May 26, i informed IRCC of the extension of the lockdown and provided all the documentation but this time they refused me because i still couldn't provide the passport. What can you do for us because this situation is none of our fault. Now i have to restore my status and that is going to affect my studies and i only have 2 months left to complete my program. Can you please help us?
Abu SusanSays
ADE, Thanks for your patience. Take a look at our latest news update. We are thinking about applicants in your category. PRIORITY TO THOSE IN URGENT SITUATIONS As Ontario prepares for the roadmap to reopening, the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa is restructuring its stages of reopening to the public. We expect to start the passport renewal session with urgent cases such as - 1. Students and workers whose study and work permits have expired. 2. Applicants currently out of status due to lack of a valid Nigerian passport. To certify the validity of your claim, kindly provide the Mission with prove of the expiration by emailing your documents to-. generalinquiries@nigeriahcottawa.ca The Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, is STILL CLOSED. We will announce the resumption date shortly on the website and our social media platforms. We are here to serve you. Thank you.
AngelaSays
Hi Susan, Thanks for taking out time to respond to our questions. Please, I have had 2 missed appointments all because of the lockdown and closure of the consulate, the most recent being on April 7th, after having waited patiently since Jan to secure these appointments. Since Ontario is entering step 1 on June 11th, pleaseeeee give me some good news and tell me the consular would be opened that day. I have an appointment that day (June 11), and I am really hoping I am able to get this done with that day at least :(. It has been such a big hassle. I know you said we should wait for a mail from you guys (I saw that from the thread), but please make a case for us. The backlog is really building up or rather has built up. Thank you so much :(
Abu SusanSays
We hear you Angela, Thanks for your patience. We are working on how to admit applicants to control the traffic when we reopen to the public. I cannot tell you at the moment if we would reopen on the same day. Rest assured that we will post the date of resumption as soon as possible. Thanks.
NonsoSays
Hello Abu, Its been 2 days now and still no reply to my question ??
Abu SusanSays
Nonso, It takes six weeks. but we have delivered to some locations in 4 weeks. In some cases, it depends on the number of applicants. If we have a high volume (500 and above) It would take up to 6 weeks.
OpeyemiSays
Hi Susan, My appointment for passport renewal is June 24th and I'm prepared to pay for the $200 administrative fees for the same day service so I can get my passport that very day before returning to my province. I just want to confirm, if this is a possibility. Please let me know if the same day service for passport renewal is still available. Thank you Susan.
Abu SusanSays
Hi Opeyemi, Same day delivery is currently on hold due to the volume of applicants waiting for the biometric capture. And many people want same day service. It will reduce the number of people we have to capture in a day. We desire to capture as many as we can to clear the backlog. Normal service for the expedited process would resume subsequently.
Dara AssiakSays
Good day, I have an appointment scheduled for June 18th. If stage one of the reopening commenced on June 14th will the Nigerian embassy likely be open on June 18th? Will my appointment hold?
Abu SusanSays
Hello Dara, We are still working on the resumption date. If we do open to the public before or on June 18th, Your appointment remains valid.
BbSays
Hi Abu. What about those of us that had appointments during the lockdown? What provisions are made for us? My appointment was for April 21st. My status has expired and I have an LMIA deadline that I need to meet, in order to apply for my PR. Additionally I have a family member that is ill. I know everyone’s situation appears crucial but we would like to know what your provisions are for those of us that had appointments during the lockdown. Your earliest appointment through your booking link is late august. That’s just unfair to us that are backlogged.
MatSays
Hi Abu, I had to provide innovate1 my credit card stmt, photocopy of my card, photo ID, and it took them extra 3 days before my card was approved and I was able to make payment. What an excruciating experience! However, because of this delay, I couldn't meet up with the registration deadline set by the association for the Calgary passport intervention. Please will the High commission attend to me if I come over to Calgary ( I need to travel 9 hrs. to Calgary) since I have already made my Passport application payment online through Innovate1 and I will come with the administrative fee for the E-passport renewal ( I also intend to pay the association fee, though that is outside NHC) Please kindly advise, thank you.
OLUSays
HI I HAVE APPOINTMENT FOR MY INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT RENEWAL ON JUNE 16, SINCE THE LOCKDOWN IS NOW LIFTED,. MAY I ATTEND THE HIGH COMMISSION FOR THE INYTERVIEW ON JUNE 16?
Abu SusanSays
Olu, the High Commission is not open to the public at the moment. We would get back to you shortly.
SamSays
The original passport is with the Canadian government, no access to it now. Although it has expired. I have copies of the pages stamped. For renewal can I come with those pages stamped.
Abu SusanSays
I believe that should do.
Igho IjiesSays

Abu SusanSays
Igho, We would post the resumption date and the next step here shortly. Thanks for your patience.
Archibong EdemSays
Hi Susan. I had booked my flight to Nigeria for August 3rd. My passport expired 15th june and i have applied for renewal and paid the fees online but getting an appointment before my flight seems far fetched. I need your candid advice please. if i dont have an appointment date before my flight AUg 3rd, is it possible to obtain clearance to travel with my expired passport, and get to renew it in Nigeria before i return to Canada? I sincerely will appreciate your reply. Alot has been spent and my heart is seriously beating. Many thanks in anticipation
Abu SusanSays
Yes, Archibong, You can go ahead and apply for an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC). It does not require your physical presence at the High Commission. Go to the website and click on the icon for ETC, follow the instructions and submit your documents. Also, contact your airline to let them know you are travelling with an expired passport. You have no problem at the airport in Nigeria because you are returning home. You can also apply for a Visa if you have a Canadian passport.
UjuSays
Hello Please is there any planned day of opening My appointments is for the first week in July. Are we to reschedule it or any idea of when the embassy will open.
Abu SusanSays
The Embassy reopens June 23, but we are starting with urgent cases. The applicants are already aware of their dates and time of appointment. So, all things being equal, you may not need a new date. However, keep following our news updates on the website and social media platforms for further information.
TaiwoSays
Hello, My capturing date is still sometimes in September, but I like to know if I can extend the earlier registered 5 years on the Passport to 10 years Passport (if you do that now) ? If so what is the additional cost ?
Abu SusanSays
Hello Taiwo, The 10year passport issuance is yet to commence outside Nigeria. You can only get it in Nigeria at the moment. And you need NIN for it.
TaiwoSays
Thanks Susan.
OlajumokeSays
Hi, I booked an appointment for Oct, but got a cancellation email a few mins ago, it didn't state why my appointment was cancelled. Thank you
Abu SusanSays
Maybe it is a public holiday. Please, send an email to generalinquiries@nigeriahcottawa.ca
MikeSays
I have a valid Canadian passport and an expired Nigerian passport. I have to be in Nigeria ASAP, I was told I Can travel to Nigerian with my expired Nigerian passport and valid Canadian passport, Is this true?
Abu SusanSays
Mike, Yes, but you have to apply for a visa with your Canadian passport. The good thing about the visa application is that it does not require your physical appearance at the High Commission. So, go on the website and click on visa application and provide the necessary information/payment. It takes barely 10days to process.
EbereSays
Can I have the details to send a money order for payment of my passport renewal and also is the info on the booking calendar right as I see the next available opening is in mid-October and it's currently 2nd of July?
Abu SusanSays
Hello Ebere, The money order is payable to the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa. Yes, the information on the calendar is correct. Unfortunately, it means a critical mass of applicants booked before you. However, pick a date and keep checking the calendar; sometimes, applicants cancel their appointments for one reason or the other. When that happens, the dates become available for others to pick.
EbereSays
Hi, I cannot seem to find a way to pay via money order on the innovate1 platform. Could you drop the information needed to process the money order & the step-by-step procedure? Also, how can I also link this order to my innovate1 account?
ChrisSays
I heard people going in for passport renewals are being charged $200 - $400 cad cash for processing requests or risk passport being mailed months later due to backlogs, and that is regardless of mail envelopes presented. Is this true? Asides the fees on the websites are there others we should be aware of?
Abu SusanSays
There are no other fees. The $200 is for expedited processing if booklets are available (Meaning collection the same day). The $400 is for missing passports. All these fees are on the website and clearly spelt out. So any explanation outside of these is contrary.
Paul OmoruyiSays
hello, I have a E passport that as expired last year, and I been trying to renew it, is it possible to get it re-stamped as I have a trip to make on September and my appointment is after September, and if yes, can I do a walk in to get it re stamped?
Abu SusanSays
Hello Paul, Unfortunately, we do not restamp passports. We also do not operate on a walk-in basis. If you must travel, please apply for an emergency travel certificate if your trip is to Nigeria.
Tonient AnthonySays
Hello, please I'd like to know if I could renew my passport 6 months before the expiration date? I'm looking to apply for a work permit very soon
Abu SusanSays
Yes you can.
ASays
Hello, I submitted a Passport Renewal, if the office is still closed, what accommodations are being put in place to service the renewals?
Abu SusanSays
The office is not closed. Our officers are working on all the applications. They mailed out those that are ready. If you are yet to get yours, please, be patient. It will get to you soon.
Elizabeth John-BriggsSays
Hello, please I have been expecting my passport and it's been almost a month I came to capture (8th July). I want to know when I should expect it because my study permit expires this month and I URGENTLY need to apply for my PGWP. Thank you
Abu SusanSays
We are producing all of them. If you are yet to get yours, please, wait a bit. It takes 4-6weeks to process; we have a large volume to work on due to the impact of COVID-19.
Elizabeth John-BriggsSays
but this is the 5th week now.

If you need to apply please make sure you apply to get it same day. I have done capturing since July 7th and they are so incompetent to process my passport till my last day to extend my work permit on July 27th, till now I am still tracking and nothing still as of August 3rd, I regret renewing that passport.

My passport expired because of the lockdown, and while waiting on the intervention. My appointment date passed due to these issues. I've not gotten any updates about the intervention but asides from that, I don't mind travelling to Ottawa as soon as possible to have it renewed. The problem is that I'm in another province and I don't have a valid ID since they're all expired now. Is there a way to fly to Ottawa with my expired passport or is there any other document I can use? Thank you
Abu SusanSays
Lolu, You can fly to Ottawa. All you need is the expired passport and another valid form of identification such; your driver's licence or any authentic ID in Canada. Explain to them before boarding your flight that you are coming here to renew your passport.

My husband and I had appointments for May that were affected by the COVID lockdown. We still do not have new dates and it is now August. Should we still expect new dates? We already paid to get the previous appointments. Kindly let us know. Thanks
Abu SusanSays
Hello Yinka, Please go on the website to Schedule appointment and pick a new date for your appointments. Sorry about the omission.

I got an appointment date on the 27th to come and renew my passport and I was able to complete the process but I haven’t gotten my passport back and I’ve been checking the tracking number and it hasn’t been sent yet.
Abu SusanSays
When you say 27th, do you mean August 27th? If yes, you have to wait a bit. It takes 4-6weeks to process.
DemiladeSays
Sorry I meant to say 27th of July

Hello Abu, I applied for a Nigerian visa for my baby who was born here and she is 20months old. She was granted the visa in November 2021, We are travelling to show her to my father (her grand father)who is unwell and a paraplegic. He will love to see his first grandchild . we where unable to travel as a result of some delayed logistics. I have been able to move the flight to March of this year 2022. However the visa is only valid till 3 months from issuance. Kindly assist me in updating the visa to be able to cover our travel from early March to mid April 2022. Thanks
