He was born in the US and hence we do not have Local Govt identification letter and Nigerian Population Commission birth certificate. However, we have the US birth certificate showing our names as the parent. Will that suffice?

Thank you, Olu, Come with a copy of the birth certificate, a letter signed by both parents indicating that he is your son, then add photocopies of the data pages of your (You and your wife) valid Nigerian passports.

Hi Susan, I came on Oct 28th but I could not drop my passport and had to send it back through Canada post. Unfortunately due to conditions its been delayed and has yet to reach the embassy. Would the embassy still process my new passport and send or will they wait for the old one to reach there?

who informed you? Please, if you need information, visit the website. It is always updated with information. We have been opened since Ontario called off the stay at home order in June. Go to the front page of the website to click on visa application and log onto the link to VFS Global to apply. They are in charge of visa.

Did you add a cover note about why you sent back the old passport? Applicants who go back with their old passports after capture should try to add a note when mailing it back to the High Commission. Let the officers know your date of capture so they can locate your new passport and send both back to you. So send your full name and application details, so we can check.

I checked my mailbox today and found my passport! I'd advise those that came in on the 5th of November to also check their mailboxes as I came in on the 5th. While I commend the high commission for doing it's best to clear out the backlogs they had despite the unfortunate circumstance of booklet shortage and also the quick processing of the E-passports, I believe we can do a lot better in the way we treat ourselves at the high commission. We were made to stand on a queue for over 45 minutes in a weather of negative 2 degree Celsius. All pleas made to the security man at the gate fell on deaf ears (I understand he might be working under instructions, so might not be his fault). I believe the commission is doing a remarkable job in the service it offers to the citizens of our country, but still, there's room for improvement. In offering these services, I think we need to show more empathy to one another.

Thanks for your constructive commentary, Temmy, We are not happy about the situation either. The COVID-19 Protocol of Ontario stipulates that the Mission should only accommodate a certain number of applicants at a time. That was why we had to cut down on the number of applicants per day, but due to the volume of requests from students, we had to increase the number, which led to the current state. However, following Ontario's stage 3 opening rules, the Mission now allows more applicants into the chancery. We hope to solve the problem entirely in early December.

Hey Susan, I was at the High Commission on Nov 12 to renew my now expired passport. I'm curious when I will be getting the new passport (and more important in this context, the now expired passport)? I need the expired passport on Nov 30 for an appointment that I can not afford to miss. We are required to present this expired passport during said appointment. Any idea if I can get it before then? We can only roll out the 10year passport in Canada if 90% of Nigerians here get their National Identification Numbers. Check our news update for active enrollment centres accross Canada.

Jonathan, November 24, 25 and 29 are all available on the Calendar. You can cancel december 1 and pick any of them. I do not know when same day service will be available. However, you should get your passport before you date of travel, all things being equal.

My mom had cancer, went into a coma for a few days, and I have not seen her in 10 years. I don't have to share these details online, but your guys tend to frustrate people a lot. Our passports were mistakenly returned back by Canada Post. They informed that they dropped a Delivery Notification Card with the Embassy since the 1st of December for the Embassy to pick them up from the Post Office were returned to but that is yet to be done. By their process, they can only release them to an Embassy Staff (with ID card and the Delivery Notification card) as the Sender. Can you kindly help with how to go about this as we need them urgently. All calls and mails have not been responded to. The Application numbers are 18448549 & 18448543.
