We, a family of three (father, mother, son), attended the Nigeria High Commission on Nov. 25 to renew our passports. We have since received only one of the passports and are unable to track the other two. Any information on the status of the two pending passports (A06041560, A02348081) would be appreciated. Hello, My husband and I have an appointment to renew our passport next week. I need to change my last name on my passport as we recently got married. Does the court Court affidavit of change of name via marriage apply to Canadian residents? Also, my husband's passport is expired and he is coming to renew on the same day (we both have separate appointments). Will the bio-data of his expired passport be acceptable for my change of name or do I need to cancel my appointment and wait for him to get his new passport. I will appreciate your response to my questions, I am nursing a 3 month old baby and I don't want to make the 6 hours drive to find out I don't have all the requirements. Thanks

Yes, the Court affidavit is ok, but we must send your details to Abuja for processing. I hope you have all the requirements, e.g., a photocopy of the marriage certificate, letter of consent, signed by your husband and all the necessary needs in the section for change of name via marriage? The biodata of your husband's expired passport will be accepted. You do not need to change your appointment.

Hi - We came in Dec 2nd to renew (my wife and son passport) and courier the passports back and got delivered on Dec7th but am still unable to track the renewed passport on Canada post. The announcement said we can now track them. Any reason why am unable to see any info on the tracking number till now

Did you add a cover note explaining that you are sending the old passport back to the Mission and stating the date you came in for capture? Appropriate communication is essential. Because without an explanation, the staff who picked it up may not know where to send it. And we cannot mail your new passport without the old copy.

Yes,, before leaving the mission, i was instructed by one of the staff to minute on the envelope with the names of the passports to be returned so they know they are expecting them. is there anything else i could have done?

If booklets are available, you will get same day service. But you have to come with the $200 CAD money order in the name of the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa.

You were supposed to drop your old passport after the capture exercise. We need to cancel it after processing the new copy and mail both to you. Please, send it back with a cover letter stating the date you came for capture. Address it to the Immigration Unit of the High Commission.

Hello Ojoshogu, The 10-year validity service is not available at the moment. It will help if applicants apply for the National identification number (NIN) to enable the Nigeria High Commission to commence the process. It is an essential requirement.

You can change your name while applying for passport renewal. However, use the new name, not the old name, on your old passport. If your marriage took place in Nigeria, you have to get the newspaper publication and an affidavit from Nigeria.

Hello Susan, Please, I came for capturing on the 6th of January to renew my passport. I tracked it and the delivery history showed that it left Ottawa on the 21st and after getting to some places, it was returned to Ottawa on the 27th. I called Canada Post to verify what the problem is but was told to contact the Commission. I have called and sent emails to the commission but have not received any response. Please I will appreciate it if you can help in this regard. Thank you for your time and effort.

Hello Susan, I made an appointment on the website but I did not add my middle name so the appointment slot does not look the same as is on my passport. On my passport my name is written as “Ogechukwu Chinemelum Ugona” but for the Nigerian Commission appointment, my name is just Ogechukwu Ugona. I tried to cancel and change my name but it seems the website saves your email address the first time regardless so I cannot change the way my name is. Would I have any issues coming in to the embassy with this error as I have to keep the appointment as it is. My second question is if there is still the process of same day renewals. I see from questions of the past is it’s only possible if you have booklets that day. Is this something we would only find out on the day of our appointment or could we know before hand?
