Hi i have applied for a passport renewal for change of name due to marriage. I have all the documents listed on the website. I just want to confirm that it is $150 money order and express canada post envelope with 2 passport pictures, please what size is the passport picture ? And do you think I should wait for the intervention to Saskatchewan. And how long does it take for the passport to be mailed out?

Change of name via marriage takes up to two-three months to process. This is because it is done in Abuja, not Ottawa. We send the documents to Abuja. Yes, it is $150 money order. And yes to all other inquiries apart from waiting for the intervention. Please, if you need to renew urgently, come to Ottawa.

This is pretty sad. I remember when it was possible to pick up my passport same day I submitted my application (2017). What went wrong? We are capable of doing better, let's do better. We are strong and smart people. Let's bring it to bare from top to bottom. We can do this!

You can, but some airlines may not approve your trip, so we advice you apply for an Emergency Travel Certificate to go and return with your Canadian passport. Check the website for details of the requirement for ETC.

Hello, My question is a little weird. On the email sent for confirmation it says to print out a letter of invitation, What letter would that be Please. Also it says to print out an Acknowledgment slip. I am not sure where to find those two as I didn't receive any attachments with those names. Any clarity you can provide will be highly appreciated.

Did you get your date of appointment from the Nigeria High Commission's website? The letter you got after you picked your date is your letter of invitation/appointment. Acknowledgment slip is the document you print out after paying to innovate 1pay (immigration site)

The high commission should send out email and tracking number to individuals, many did not know their tracking number. I think better service can be render by informing individuals. This your general statement that people from 25 January to Feb 2, should track, people that came before then are yet to receive their passport, have you posted it or not, one is not sure. A person have issues with finger printing, and another person have to travel back with the old passport and when she got back to her base; reposted back to the high commission..Both are yet to receive the new passport and in ur embassy January 21st Please passport issue shouldn’t be generalized, send out email to individuals that you have posted their passport back and the tracking number. People paid for this service apart from cost of the passport. Thank you.

Thanks. 1. It is the applicants duty to copy their tracking numbers from the envelope before dropping it. 2. Many applicants do not bother to read all the news updates on the website or emails we send to them after capture. Some of the issues you raised are in some of the news updates. 3. Because people do not bother to read what we post on the website, we have made our social media handles active. 4. Our Media Associate goes to the waiting room regularly to use word of mouth to communicate the same information. 5. When people have finger print issues, we call them or send emails. I think we are trying.

I came for my passport renewal on January 28th , I received my passport on 25th March. Kudos to the Commission and Staffs .Great Job. But let there be an awareness that people need to drop their old passport, this information wasn’t disposed to me. Aside this , everything was great and well coordinated. Great job . Hi Susan, I do need your help as the post office says there is a character limit to the payee name of the money order and will not be able to include “Ottawa” to the Nigerian High Commission name as Payee. Will is be okay to make the money order payable to “Nigerian High Commission” without inclusion of Ottawa? Also as bags and cell phones are not allowed into the high commission, is there a storage where we can keep this?

We really need to change as Nigerians. It's very sad that our rights as citizens of the country would be delayed indefinitely, even in Canada. The reason? Ordinary Booklets for printing! I guess the ugly Nigerian Factor will always follow us everywhere we go! It is really really sad!

Hello Susan, Doing a good job of keeping Nigerians in Canada informed of status of their applications. Hello Nigerians...; to avoid overloading the procurement process, if you need your docs really urgently, pay for same day or expedited service. However, if you did not pay for same day, don't ask for it urgently..wait for 4 to 6 weeks. We're in Canada you know, let's drop that Nigerian pressure tactics, it just gives headache and Jam the system. If you've been coming to the embassy over the last 20 years, you'd realize these batch are way more responsive than those from "yester years", so let us meet them half way. Thank you
