Was informed that my married name ought to have been on the application form instead of my maiden name and to contact innovate1 for correction. After several attempts to reach innovate 1, I was provided with a NIS url link for correction but the link redirects to reapplying for another passport & I have contacted the embassy via email for further assistance. This is not about the High Commission not being productive please. The booklet challenge is from Nigeria, we do not produce booklets in Ottawa, they come from Nigeria. We have been following up with them. We will resume production as soon as we get the booklets.

I’m sorry but I have to ask this question, what exactly is going on with the passport situation? I have been following this page since February and every time the report is “we have no booklets”. Is Abuja aware that people are running out of status here? Can we be told what sort of efforts or pressure is being put by the Consular here in Canada? When I was at the embassy in May I was assured that Passports will arrive soon. PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR LIVELIHOODS!!! There is hoarding and corruption at the High Commission. I will suggest that people around Ottawa should let fix a day and will invite news media for demonstration at the high commission. Abuja said there is no scarcity of booklet, it is people at passport unit in Ottawa that are corrupt. No reasonable people will keep singing the same song since January. People that bribe at the high commission gets their passport.

Hello, I did my passport application in February and sometime in March, I got a voicemail that I had the wrong envelope and therefore my passport could not be sent. A new envelope was requested which I sent and when tracked showed that it was received on April 14. Since then I waited and checked, called and sent follow up emails all of which I got no response to. I checked yesterday June 20 and my tracking number showed my envelope delivered but not to me but someone else in Regina Saskatchewan. The problem is I live in Lethbridge, Alberta and how a self addressed envelope to me in Lethbridge turns out in Saskatchewan is beyond me. I really don't understand what is going on at the High Commission, no update for over 3 weeks. People are losing their livelihoods, they can't plan ahead, and are facing immigration risks. The commission said 3-6 weeks before you get your renewed passport but now you say no booklet for over a month now, this is not how things are to be done. 1. We have no control over the booklet issue. They come from Abuja and we have been putting pressure on them. 2.We are unable to provide soft copies because they are controlled by the Nigeria Immigration Service and because of the sensitive nature, the only print them on the booklets. 3. The High Commission has engaged IRCC to see the possibility of extension for many students and those who just got new jobs. 4. We are not skipping comments. We multitask and respond to applicants on other platforms. 5. We expect the first batch of booklets to come in before the end of the week.

I am not asking you to close down the entire embassy, passport applications are not the only thing you process, but the department responsible for passport applications should be allowed to rest for now… because your only response here is “passport are not available and we have no control over when they will be available”, however you have control to put a pause to that department responsible for passport document here in Canada. The system shouldn’t collect money and not deliver the product as promised, SIMPLE.

On arrival, we discovered she had already registered for NIN back in Nigeria and the surname is her married name while the surname on her passport is still her maiden name. Segun, We are struggling with the availability of booklets to cover the backlog of over 6,000 applicants. We have not produced a single passport for those we captured at the last Intervention in Newfoundland over two months ago. Embarking on another Intervention with this backlog is a bad idea.
