We have no control over the calendar. It is handled by the Nigeria Immigration Service. Send an email to generalinquiries@nigeriahcottawa.ca if the locate a free spot for an earlier date, they will send it to you.

Hello Abu, I have seen previous correspondence that said it will take 3 - 4 weeks for your passport renewal to be processed and mailed to you if there are no issues with your NIN or other things. I have also heard horror stories of it taking months and months. I am in the process of booking a date for my sibling, but the earliest date is January 8th, 2024. But they must renew their status in Canada before April 6, 2024. Is it possible to find earlier dates possible this year? How does one go about that? Also, does booking for a 32-page, 5-year passport make things easier on the embassy and reduce the odds of a horror story where a passport renewal is delayed for several months, and your status in Canada becomes uncertain? Any help is appreciated.

When people tell you "horror stories" they should go the whole hug by letting you know that some of the delays are due to them not fulfilling their part of the exercise. You will have delays for that long if 1. you have issues with your NIN that you didn't fix before coming to Ottawa. 2. If you are applying for a name change, it will take months to fix because it is done in Abuja, not Ottawa. If you decide to go home with your old passport instead of dropping it at the Embassy, you will not get your new passports. 3. If you make mistakes with the address on your self-addressed envelope, your passport will not get to you on time. These are some of the issues responsible for the delays but those applicants wont tell you the whole story. If you want another date, send an email to generalinquaries@nigeriahcottawa.ca to ask if dates of your choice are available.
