NOTICE ON PASSPORT GUIDELINES
THE HIGH COMMISSION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA IN CANADA WISHES TO INFORM PASSPORT APPLICANTS OF THE UPDATED PASSPORT RENEWAL PROCESS.

Kindly note that the above charges are Administrative Charges/Fees, and are different from the main fees paid to innovate 1. The charges are non-refundable.
The mode of payment shall be by money order, payable to the Nigeria High Commission, Ottawa, ONLY.
ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE A VALID NIN BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE APPLICATION.

. Procedures for E-Passport
1. In the Passport menu on the Nigeria Immigration website, choose to apply for passport renewal and sign in using your Google account. You may use it to log into the system, otherwise, select the Open ID option and create an account for the application process.
2. Please, click on create a new application, fill out the online forms, and submit.
3. Once the application has been successfully submitted, you will be provided with a Reference Number and Application ID. Please print it out, as you will need it later in the application process.
4. Please, pay for your passport via innovate1services using your credit card. Print your application form, acknowledgment slip and payment slip. (If acknowledgment and payment slips cannot be found, kindly click the link below.

5. The applicant should appear at the Nigerian High Commission Ottawa on the appointment date, with his or her expired Nigerian passport and required documents. If the application is for a first issuance, and the applicant is under the age of sixteen, the following requirements must also be met.
THE PASSPORT RENEWAL ARRANGEMENT AS IS FOLLOWS:
1. ALL PASSPORT APPLICANTS AFTER FILLING OUT THE FORMS AND MEETING THE ONLINE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PASSPORT PROCESS SHOULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ON THE IMMIGRATION WEBSITE AND PICK A DATE FROM THERE.
2. EACH REQUEST SENT IN FOR AN APPOINTMENT MUST STATE THE FULL NAME OF THE PASSPORT APPLICANT AS IT APPEARS ON THE NIGERIAN PASSPORT AND ENSURE IT IS THE SAME ON YOUR NIN.
3. FOR FAMILY SCHEDULING PLEASE INDICATE ALL FAMILY MEMBERS THAT REQUIRE RENEWAL AS YOU WILL NOT BE RECOGNIZED AS ONE UNIT. EACH MEMBER OF THE FAMILY WILL NEED TO BE GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT.
4. UPON ARRIVAL ALL APPLICANTS MUST PRESENT PRINTED COPIES OF THEIR PASSPORT RENEWAL APPOINTMENT SLIP AND ALL RELEVANT DOCUMENTS INCLUDING THE MANDATORY $50 CAD ADMIN FEE RECEIPT FOR THE HIGH COMMISSION, AND EXPRESS CANADA POST ENVELOPES BEFORE ENTRY INTO THE CHANCERY. REMEMBER TO LEAVE YOUR OLD PASSPORT IN YOUR ENVELOPE AFTER YOUR BIOMETRIC EXERCISE.
5. APPLICANTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING CELL PHONES AND BAGS INTO THE CHANCERY.
6. IN A SITUATION WHERE A PARENT HAS TO ACCOMPANY A MINOR FOR THE PASSPORT RENEWAL PROCESS, ONLY ONE PARENT WOULD BE ALLOWED TO COME INTO THE CHANCERY WITH THE PASSPORT APPLICANT.
7. THE HOURS FOR PASSPORT RENEWALS ARE 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM. ANYONE WHO SHOWS UP AT A LATER TIME WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE BUILDING, EVEN IF SUCH A PERSON HAS AN APPOINTMENT.
8. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANYONE WHO SHOWS UP AT THE CHANCERY WITHOUT A PRINTED APPOINTMENT SLIP FOR AN INTERVIEW WOULD NOT BE ATTENDED TO.

Requirements for First Issue of E-passport

Passport) if applicable.

of Birth Certificate and Local Government Identification Letter if you have the
Machine-Readable Passport (the Old Passport).
7. Two
current passport-size photographs with white background (35MM X 45MM)
8. Administrative fee of $50 CAD receipt. Or buy a money order in the name of the Nigeria High Commission.
9. Self-addressed Canada Post express post
envelope (REGIONAL if you reside within Ontario and NATIONAL if
you reside outside Ontario. ENSURE to take the tracking number of envelope
before dropping it.
Requirements for Renewal of E-Passport
1. Passport

4. Applicant
should come with the Original Expired Nigerian E-Passport and Photocopy of
Bio data page of the E-Passport. Remember to leave your expired passport in the
return envelope. The High Commission cannot mail your new passport without
canceling the old copy.

7. Persons
under the Age of 18 OR Minors will be required to submit a Consent letter
signed by parents with a photocopy of the Bio-data page of the Nigeria E-Passport (per
applicant).
8. Administrative fee of $50 CAD receipt.
9. Self
addressed Canada Post express post envelope (REGIONAL if you reside
within Ontario and NATIONAL if you reside outside Ontario. ENSURE
to take the tracking number of the envelope before dropping it. If you will be using one
envelope for the family, have the names listed on the envelope.

Requirements for change of name via marriage
(Only LAST
NAME, NO changing, adding, or removing of first name, middle name, date, or
place of birth)
1. Passport Application form
to be completed online and printed out (FILL FORM AS RENEWAL AND
NOT NAME CHANGE. ALSO FILL THE FORM IN THE NEW NAME AND NOT THE MAIDEN NAME)

Expired Nigerian E-Passport and Photocopy of Bio data page of the
E-Passport. Remember to leave your expired passport in the return envelope. The
High Commission cannot mail your new passport without canceling the old copy.

the national dailies for marriages done in Nigeria.
10. Court affidavit of
change of name via marriage.

13. $100 CAD receipt for a change of name via marriage
14. Self
addressed Canada Post express post envelope (REGIONAL if you reside
within Ontario and NATIONAL if you reside outside Ontario. ENSURE
to take the tracking number of the envelope before dropping it. You are also advised to drop a separate
return envelope addressed with the new name if you are a family.

Requirement for Persons under the Age of 18 OR Minors
Applicants under the age of 18 (eighteen) MUST provide the following requirements:
1. Passport

4. Copy
of child’s birth certificate
5. Letter
of Consent jointly signed by both parents (per applicant)
6. Photocopies
of the parents’ passports data page. One of the passport data pages must be a
Nigerian Passport (per applicant)
7. Additional
documents for single parents (proof of custody of the child/children)
8. Two
current passport-size photographs with white background
9. Administrative fee of $50 CAD receipt.
10. Self addressed Canada Post express post
envelope (REGIONAL if you reside within Ontario and NATIONAL if
you reside outside Ontario. ENSURE to take tracking number of envelope
before dropping.
11. Applicant
will be required to appear in person for biometrics

Requirements for Replacement of Lost e-Passport
1. Passport

5. Police
Report not a file number (have the police forward the police report to passportinquiries@nigeriahcottawa.ca

10. Self-addressed Canada Post express post
envelope (REGIONAL if you reside within Ontario and NATIONAL if
you reside outside Ontario. ENSURE to take the tracking number of the envelope
before dropping it. You are also advised to drop a separate return envelope
addressed with the new name if you are a family.
All passport applicants are required to be physically present on the appointment date specified on the payment confirmation receipt. If the applicant cannot be present on the appointment day, the applicant may reschedule another appointment. Applicants will only be able to reschedule the appointment after the initial appointment day has passed.
