Driver’s License

Driver’s License Authentication

The High Commission provides authentication services for Nigerian driver’s licenses for use in Canada. Please follow the steps below carefully to ensure correct processing.

General Information

  • Only original FRSC-issued Nigerian Driver’s Licenses can be authenticated.
  • Laminated, temporary, or international licenses are not accepted.
  • Expired licenses must be confirmed with the Drive Centre for efficacy to use before sending it for authentication.

Requirements

  • Formal Request Letter – a signed letter from the applicant, including current address and telephone number.
  • Driver’s License – legible copy of the license, and the original (to be sighted and returned).
  • Nigerian Passport – copy of the biodata page and page showing last entry into Canada.
  • Return Envelope – self-addressed Canada Post Priority or Xpresspost envelope (with tracking).
  • Processing Fee – CAD $100, payable by money order or bank draft to Nigeria High Commission.

Processing Time

  • Standard processing time is 15 business days.
  • Submit the complete package by mail to:

Consular Section Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (EST).

Passport Processing: Open to the general public, Monday to Friday.
